How To Make a Friendship Garden Basket – Linda Peterson TV – Livin’ the Creative Life

Give the gift that keeps on growing with this Friendship Garden Basket.  Basic materials combine to create this gift basket that tells someone special you are thinking of them!

In addition to basic craft supplies you will need a basket, paper shreds, small shovel, seed packets of choice

Decoupaged Clay Pot with Bird 

  • 4” clay pot – or size of choice
  • Decorative paper of choice (neutral color and background or use newsprint)
  • Collage image(s) (a bird motif was used in this project – courtesy of Graphicsfairy.com)
  • Collage Pauge Glossy
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Sponge brush
  • Sanding block
  • Scissors 
  1. Paint rim and under rim with acrylic paint.  Allow to dry
  2. Cut out paper from pattern.  Apply decoupage medium to paper and clay pot.  Apply paper, smoothing edges.  Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out decorative image and decoupage onto front of clay pot.  Allow to dry.
  4. Sand paint in random areas around the rim.
  5. Apply decoupage medium to entire pot to seal and make water resistant.

 Friendship garden plant markers

 

  • Craft sticks (popscicle sticks)
  • Green Distress Dye Ink ( or color of choice)
  • Black Pigment Ink
  • Rubber stamp – Vintage rectangle frame used in our project
  • Permanent marker or alphabet stamps 
  1. Apply green dye ink to surface of stick.
  2. Ink Stamp and press image onto craft stick
  3. Write the name of flower or seed inside frame if desired. 

Option:  Seal with Collage Pauge Glossy to make the marker water resistant

Friendship Potting Soil Tag

 

  • Manila tag
  • Rubber Stamp image of choice (we used a vintage bird theme)
  • Round Vintage frame stamp (or stamp of choice)
  • Distress inks in color of choice
  • Black pigment ink
  • Permanent marker
  • Tacky Glue
  • Scissors
  • Heat gun or oven
  • Cellophane treat bag
  • 3-4 cups of potting soil

 

  1. Add potting soil to bag and tie closed. 
  2. Stamp bird image onto tag
  3. Remove excess tag with scissors
  4. Color tag with dye inks or chalk as desired
  5. Distress edges 
  6. Stamp round frame image onto shrink plastic and cut out.
  7. Write “Potting soil” in center of frame with permanent marker
  8. Heat and shrink.
  9. Glue to tag
  10. Tie tag to bag.
