Recycled diapers….yes really!
I have done it folks, I am officially on the Cray Cray list! I stumbled across something similar a while back and thought what a hillariously genius (as my daughter-in-law said) idea! I knew I had to share it with you.
The dilemma was the window box in front of my studio. It’s beautiful – it’s upcycled and it’s lovely all summer long, because I water it constantly. However, last year when I went on vacation, and the watering stopped – so did the plants. They died! (RIP dear old plants)! So when I saw this idea, I knew this would be the answer to my plants prayers and so far so good.
So I give you the best gardening tip for spring 2015 and yes, it requires some diapers (though I just couldn’t bear to upcycle used diapers, if you must, then you must….carry on…)
In this video, I share my best gardening tip on how to create amazing potting soil that your plants will love – even when you’re away! It is just that amazing!

Watch the video and see how I upcycle diapers into amazing potting soil.
Basically here’s the scoop!
You’ll need a container, a diaper, some water, and top soil or potting soil.
Lay the diaper into the container and fill it with water. Allow the water to absorb and then rip the diaper apart to release the water soaked gel inside.
Mix this gel with potting soil. The amazing thing is that when you water the soil, the gel will soak up the water and then slowly release it back into the soil. Hows that for a great gardening tip! Brilliant and whoever thought of this – I wish it were me, but sadly it’s not – you’re beyond amazing!
Have you thought of any other ways to recycle diapers? Hmmm….leave your ideas in the comments.
