Lot’s of times I hear one excuse after another from people who want to create but don’t. Things like “I’m not creative enough”, or “I would but I don’t have the extra money right now” and the list goes on and on and on. Well, shut my ears and stick a fork in it -I’m not listening! I absolutely don’t believe it not for a second. Because we all have things to create with at our disposal and we don’t even know it!
When you look around and see what all it is that you throw away, you will realize heavens to betsy you have been blessed with a plethora of FREE CRAFT MATERIALS! FREE! as in No Cost, No money, FREE! It only takes a little bit of imagination to turn that trash into something else. Okay, now I hear you saying you lack imagination – right? Well, that’s why you buy the book – just like Madge says in Madges Monthly Must Haves.
(Psst! …have you watched the book promo? click here) To be perfectly honest, I think Dana got a little tired of me digging stuff out of the trash – stuff like pop cans, soda tabs, veggie cans and how about those little twisty plastic things that come on bread? I’ve become the brunt of the family jokes. It’s okay…I get the last laugh.
I started looking at trash in a whole new way. I wanted to think beyond the obvious and I believe I succeeded. Who would have thought that bicycle inner tubes could be sewn together to make some really cool fabric? Or that plastic bottles are really Shrinky Dinks in disguise? How about turning regular old leaf garbage bags into a designer knockoff handbag? If I could cut it, twist it, burn it, sew it, hammer it – it was fair game. Not all of it worked, but a lot of it did.
I can’t wait to see what my fellow peeps have done – so I’m gonna hop off here…and get to hoppin!
