It looks like a tornado hit a freight train here in the studio. I’m going 90 miles an hour and the paint and metal and glue are flying! This year, I’ve decided to do things a little different and I’m sharing some behind the scenes, sneak peek of sorts into the projects and art I’m creating for CHA in 3 WEEKS! Yikes – did I say THREE WEEKS!?
I’m loving these quick videos that I can create on the fly to help you jump start your creative brain waves. What will you see in this video? A cool technique and how-to tutorial on what I use and how I create texture in my mixed media artwork. I use a lot of texture on my canvases and art journals and let’s face it, shopping in the fine art section of the craft store is expensive. Have you priced modeling paste lately? Yeah – it’s like $12 bucks for a small jar? My solution is about $6 and I think it goes farther. I don’t use this every time I want texture, but it is my go-to product.
Now – what WON’T you see in the video? A completed project. So don’t give me the ole thumbsdown dislike button because you were expecting a full blown project. Why? Well, keeping it real, I just don’t have time to create a full project on video right now…and second because I’m giving you the idea and I want to see what YOU would create with it or how you would use this in your artwork. It’s time to jump outside your little comfy box now people and do something you’re scared to death to do…..it’s OKAY to FAIL! In fact, check out the bloopers at the end of the video…..and not only did I do this once – I ended up doing it THREE times!
Without further adieu, I present…. How to add texture on a budget – yes it’s full of awesome sauce…..
