It’s a proven fact that when you do a little something you love every day, you’re happier. When Mama’s happy, EVERYONE is happy! Trust me, just a little art journaling or creative time in my day is better than any drug and it’s literally free!
Keep it simple and small. Limit yourself to a specific time, say 10-30 minutes and limit the size of your canvas to a small notebook. You’ll be surprised at what you can create in that short amount of time! Limiting your time and supplies can actually help you be more creative. Makes no sense, right? But it is true!
Where can you find the time? 10 minutes on your lunch break or waiting for an appointment. Grab a pencil, your mini notebook and sketch. It doesn’t have to be pretty.
Just before bed, take your sketch or doodle from earlier and add some color with colored pencils and finish it with a positive quote or affirmation. You’re done! Do it a daily or a few times a week. It’s fun to look back over time and see what you’ve accomplished.
If you want to be a little more adventurous, here’s a project I did a while back. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the materials I used in this project, you can improvise by using newspapers or magazines with interesting designs and colors. (see my favorite mixed media supplies here) Add a phrase by typing it out on your computer, printing it and then cutting it out. If you want to up your game, try making your own stencils like I have in this project. Sometimes, it’s just fun to go back to the basics.
Have fun! XOXO – Linda
P.S. Want more? Here’s another quick and easy project and again, put on your creative hat to see what materials you have to use instead.
