iLovetoCreate and the Southern Women’s Show
Dear Southern Women of Charlotte NC,
YOU ROCK!!! I enjoyed the time I spent with each and every one of you!!! Thank you for sharing your joy of crafting, your life challenges, your girlfriend stories – you are all an amazing group of women!
Hope to see you again next year!
xo – Linda
I just returned home from the Southern Women’s Show held in Charlotte, NC and WOW! I was invited by iLovetoCreate to represent them along with my bff crafty sister Tiffany Windsor. I’m still overwhelmed with the amazing response and the warm welcome we received at the show.
The show was attended by 23,000 women and 4 men – yes I counted!! (let me just say this, the men that I met – well you all rock to because you were there supporting your ladies, patiently waiting as they visited our booth, carrying their bags )
It was the first time that the CHA sponsored a Craft Pavillion. Many ladies knew we were there and made their way back to see us first. Others found out as they made their way to the back and were thrilled to be be able to sit, relax and craft.
At time’s we were 4 people deep running 8 make and takes. While I showed how to design a silk scarf with Tulip Fabric Markers,
Tiffany showed the ladies how to make a phone pouch from felt and the Aleene’s brand of adhesives.
We heard comments like:
I’m not creative, but I can do this!
I can’t believe I just did this!
This is awesome!
This is such a stress reliever!
I wish I had more time to create!
I’m going to invite my girlfriends over for drinks and crafting!
This would be great for my kids!
WOW – NO MESS!
and more
Here’s Beth with the scarf she designed. She loved it so much she brought her daughter back on Sunday!
This Mom and Daughter duo sell their jewelry to make a little extra money. Jesse sold so much jewelry in 2 weeks that she was able to buy a blackberry! Did I mention she’s 14? WOW!!
They had so much fun crafting together and you could tell that crafting was a big part of their life and really strengthed their mother/daughter bond.
The stories that these women shared with me of their triumphs, their struggles, their families will not be forgotten. They were so relaxed when they were crafting and they opened up.
Of course we werent the only ones in the craft pavillion, there were also booths featuring quilting, knitting, papercrafts and more.
When Creativity Knocks featured a stage and live tapings of their show along with Make N Takes at their booth.
Their MITI’s were very well attended as well. – so nice to see friends at the show!
It was so nice to be able to connect with the ladies who craft. We really just wanted to show everyone that it is Cool2Craft! I really enjoyed every minute of it and hope to be back next year!!
Where has craft tv gone? Will it ever come back?
I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve gotten over the past several years and see the many facebook posts wondering where has craft tv gone? In the good ole’ 1980’s we had wonderful shows such as ABC’s The Home Show – which I watched like clockwork every day – on the phone with my girlfriend. I loved every aspect of the show – especially Carol Duvall’s craft segments. Then as “WE” finally came into “cool” and had cable installed, I got the TNN Network which featured Aleene’s Creative Living and then HGTV appeared with The Carol Duvall Show. Both of those shows ran for years, inspiring us to create and decorate our homes and then all of a sudden…POOF! They’re gone! What in the heck happened?
I wish I had a definitive answer to give to all of you. I feel as if we’ve been dumped off…yes all 80 million of us viewers…left to hang in the balance, dangling and waiting but unfortunately, it will be a long wait, and it’s sad that the networks do not see the value in bringing back Creative TV anytime in the near future or at all….so…
is craft TV dead? NO! NO! NO! …it’s just taken on a different format….the INTERNET!!!
So if the networks won’t do for us what we want…then we take it on ourselves to make it happen! ARE YOU WITH ME HERE? CRAFTING TV IS ALIVE AND KICKIN!
For the past year and a half, my creative girlfriends, Tiffany Windsor – Producer and Host of Aleene’s Creative Living, Heidi Borchers – her equally talented sister and designer along with Creative Muse, Candace Jedrowicz and myself have teamed up to bring you a new crafting TV program EVERY MONDAY! – and NO RERUNS! – These are fresh, inspiring and a great way to start your week!

Behind the scenes with Creative friends
I think I could write a whole novel on what it takes to be a designer, author and just all round creative person in the craft’s industry. As designers, entrepeneurs, forward thinkers or whatever you want to call it, we spend a boat load of time educating ourselves to stay on top of trends…make trends…see trends…whatever it takes….
I’m so blessed to be among a group of 5 really talented and creative – forward thinkers – in the crafts industry and we generally get together often to brainstorm, catch up, inspire one another and chit chat…..
Today was one of those days. We always say it will be only an “hour long skype call” but rarely is it ever that short….today was no exception and wow…did we ever brain drain ourselves with ideas and pushing the envelope of our creative knowledge……I think as the conversation got longer….our hair got bigger…and we got a little girl crazy nuts…
take a look at behind the scenes of a cool2craft skypejam…everything you ever wanted to know about growing your hair BIG…
Hope at least that gave you a little laugh….you know laugher is the best medicine!!!
